I am currently working on two books which will be available this autumn. The first is a children’s book titled The Adventures of Dragon Mouse. As the title suggests this is about a character called Dragon Mouse who is a mouse who wants to be a dragon so much that he has made himself look like one, however he can’t breath fire or fly. The first book follows his attempts to become a dragon. The images for this one are complete and I have read the story to some groups of primary school children who really enjoyed the idea. I will be working with a teacher to write the text so that is is written using suitable language for the age group. Future stories will focus of the further adventures of Dragon Mouse. I am working on one about dinosaurs and one about space. In each of these stories Dragon Mouse will solve problems using his talent to make just about anything out of house hold objects and a lot of glue and tape.
The second project is an all ages comic about the Star Dragons. These are dragons which live and fly through outer space. It will follow their adventures on different planets and is inspired by a mix of different mythologies and science fiction. I am still writing the scripts but I have done lots of world building so far. Examples of this as well as more images of the Dragon Mouse stories can be found on my Tumblr which is the easiest way to follow my work.

I am once again making work on a regular basis but I will no longer be posting every single piece on this site. I will only be posting finished pieces and news here.

A while back I was interviewed for the graduate issue of AntiBody magazine, along with several other young artists making a wide range of work. It also has some good tips for people both starting creative courses and those going into their final year.

Finally getting some work done
While on Orkney I visited the excavation taking place on the Ness of Brodgar. The shit is huge and what they have discovered is fascinating being believed by many, to be a Neolithic Temple complex. Here are some photographs I took of the site.

I opened up a book and in I strode
Now nobody can find me
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road
My town and my world behind me
I’m wearing my cloak
I’ve slipped on the ring
I’ve swallowed the magic potion
I’ve fought the dragon, dines with the King
And dived in the bottomless ocean
I opened a book and made some friends
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with it’s bumps and bends
To their happily ever after
I finished the book and out I came
The cloak no longer hides me
My chair and my house are just the same
Bit I have a book inside me
